It was our pleasure to instruct at the Chicago Heavy Rescue Symposium. This annual event continues to evolve and provides an excellent value for students who conduct a series of extrications and detailed tool classes over the two day event. One of the iterations simulated a casualty trapped in the mechanicals used to control the compactor. I learned a lot about the guts of that piece of equipment and being trapped in one would be a very painful and potentially deadly experience. I'm glad that these skilled rescue operators train for even these rare events. Thanks to the students and instructors of the Symposium and we will see you next year.
